چکیده
Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) have been widely used in mobile devices, energy storage power stations, medical equipment, and other fields, became an indispensable technological product modern society. However, the capacity degradation of LIBs limits their long-term deployment, which is not conducive to saving resources. What more, it will lead safety problems when battery degraded. Failure a key issue research application LIBs. Faced with problem degradation, various aspects studied. This paper reviews electrochemical mechanism LIBs’ life fade, detection technologies for failure, methods regulate lifetime prognostics. Finally, development trend potential challenges are prospected. All insights from this review expected advance on fading prediction techniques

Characterising Li-ion battery degradation through the identification of perturbations in electrochemical battery models
Lithium ion batteries undergo complex electrochemical and mechanical degradation. This complexity is pronounced in applications such as electric vehicles where highly demanding cycles of operation and varying environmental conditions lead to non-trivial interactions of ageing stress factors. This work presents the framework for an ageing diagnostic tool based on identifying the physical paramet...
متن کاملVisualization and quantification of electrochemical and mechanical degradation in Li ion batteries.
High-energy-density materials that undergo conversion and/or alloying reactions hold promise for next-generation lithium (Li) ion batteries. However, these materials experience substantial volume change during electrochemical operation, which causes mechanical fracture of the material and structural disintegration of the electrode, leading to capacity loss. In this work, we use x-ray tomography...
متن کاملUnderstanding and Controlling Anionic Electrochemical Activity in High-Capacity Oxides for Next Generation Li-Ion Batteries
Rechargeable Li-ion batteries with higher energy density are in urgent demand to address the global challenge of energy storage. In comparison with anode materials, the relatively low capacity of cathode oxides, which exhibit classical cationic redox activity, has become one of the major bottlenecks to reach higher energy density. Recently, anionic activity, such as oxygen redox reaction, has b...
متن کاملIn situ electrochemical synchrotron radiation for Li-ion batteries.
Observing the electronic structure, compositional change and morphological evolution of the surface and interface of a battery during operation provides essential information for developing new electrode materials for Li-ion batteries (LIBs); this is because such observations demonstrate the fundamental reactions occurring inside the electrode materials. Moreover, obtaining detailed data on che...
متن کاملI Degradation Reactions in SONY - Type Li - Ion Batteries
.Thermal instabilities were identified in SONY-type lithium-ion cells and correlated with interactions of cell constituents and reaction products. Three temperature regions of interaction were identified and associated with the state of charge (degree of Li intercalation) of the cell. Anodes were shown to undergo exothermic reactions as low as 100°C involving the solid electrolyte interface (SE...
